Hi,

I'm using Grid Control for monitoring. One of our customers would like to have access to dbconsole and I can't give them access to Grid Control because this machine in on a management LAN. Is it possible (supported) to use both, Grid Control AND dbconsole to monitor the same database?

Regards

Martin

I think it's possible for using both gridcontrol and dbconsole.

Cause gridcontrol and dbconsole using different port,

The other reason, gridcontrol services start in Oracle_Agent/bin ( ./emctl start agent) and dbconsole start in Oracle_Home/bin ( ./emctl start dbconsole ).

The only restriction I know is you can't use DB Console on Grid repository database as they use the same schema and objects... But I'm far from an EM expert.

Yes..

Actually the only difference is Grid control is use to manage more then one databases regardless of any geographic location, where as with dbconsole you can monitor only one database at a time.

One thing wants to add is ... if it's 9i ... not possible. but in case of 10g onwards it's possible.. you have to configure dbconsole with target db.

So herewith my findings.

It's possible with 10g and just like normal install of dbconsole.
For me it's not usefull, when an account is created for my customer it will be an Administrator withing dbconsole and he's able to change SYS and SYSTEM password.

so I uninstalled it again.

regards,
Martin
