Hi,
Oracle DB Console; system configuration tab reports only 2048 MB of RAM even when the system has 12 GB of physical ram.

Is it a bug or something. Any clues?

Thanks,
Yash

Are you using sga_target and sga_max ?

I have found on a Solaris V880 with 8 processors, 32 gigs of ram that Oracle doesen't use nearly as much memory as I thought it would. Mine use only about 4 Gigs when I gave it permission to use 10 gigs.

I filed an Oracle TAR and they assured me it was not a problem.
Good luck!
Neil.

Thanks for the reply. I have used sga_max_size since I am using db_block_buffers I cannot use sga_target. There was huge amount of paging occurring on the system. I monitored the server for quite a while and found that’s not much of issues.

Yash
