I try to connect oracle database from my work station using oracle8i OEMI For this I do the following

1)installed oracle8i client

2) installed Oracle8i Enterprise manager

Since there is no database in my client so there is no listener available

When I try to connect to Database Server it gave me error
ORA-12541: TNS:no listener

How to do and configure it correctly

Pls. check ur tnsnames.ora file & check whether all parameters r correct:
Eg:

MIS =
(DESCRIPTION =
(ADDRESS_LIST =
(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = jupiter)(PORT = 1521))
)
(CONNECT_DATA =
(SERVICE_NAME = mis)
)
)
