ok,
I have seen other messages posted here about this error, but I still get the same error. I am running solaris with oracle 8i. If I try to run any type of job, i get vni-2015 error. The job that I am running is simple, 'select * from etc;'. My preferred credintials are set with a user that has dba privlidges on the database I am selecting from. Although, from what I read, it sounds as though I need to have some sort of system privlidges set for this user? Can anyone help.

thx,
Mike

did you Verify the OS user and Intelligent Agent permissions on the server.
Normal dbsnmp permissions are usually:
-rwsr-xr-x root dba dbsnmp
If the dbsnmp process is owned by an OS user (ie. oracle), the processes and
jobs will run as user oracle.

Oracle recommends setting the OS user ' oracle ' or equivalent as the Node
Logon credentials in the EM Console's Preferred Credentials section. Oracle
normally has read, write and executable permissions to all the neccessary
directories and files.
If another OS user is used for the Node Preferred Credentials, verify the
user has full permissions to the $ORACLE_HOME/network directory; the temp
directory; any networking files that are required for using TCP/IP.

I have had a simular error VNI-2002, which for the love of peace I can't get resolved. The Agent doesn't have access to the job log files etc, as described in Oracle books. I'm running Win 2000 prof. and have created a special user as you have described above with required permissions. I know I'm overlooking some permission setting, is there a comprehensive list. I have tried what the Oracle books suggest - no luck. No Internet information exists for VNI-2002 save for two questions without answers, such as my own. Can you help?
