Hi,
I am trying to install Oracle 8i enterprise edition on my windows 2000 PC. After choosing Enterprise edition the custom/typical/minimal option screen is coming on the universal installer. Once i select any of these options and click next, the installation is stopping without any message/progress. Can any shed some light,please?

Do you have the Novell Client on the Server?

that may cause it

No I dont hace Novell Client on my PC.

May I know the Processor that you are using....... If that is Pentium IV Machine.., you need to modify a file and let me know soon.....

Hi,
If your processoris Pentium IV:
Copy the system into your c:
rename the file named symcjit and install again..

This worked great for me, both on a laptop with a P4, and a desktop with a P3, both running Win2kSP2, and having the same installation problem.

I am trying to install Oracle 8i on Win2k Professional for my own use. When the installation starts it gives me a message that Cannot write swingall.jar to c:Ora81.. .. I click Continue after ignoring it says at the end Installation Unsuccessful.

Once I got almost till end until i received a message that Could not locate oci.dll

I am stuck up in a miserable position. I have an important exam for Oracle coming next week.

Please help
