I'm attempting to re-create a physical standby database via the OEM GUI. The process starts and copies all of the database files, creates an archive log file copies it okay, recovers the database but hangs at the step adding configuration configX. I'm able to do a tnsping to primary and standby. I can connect via sqlplus as well. I've looked in logfiles and nothing is pointing me anywhere.

Do it without the GUI. Oracle is notoriously good at hiding error messages behind GUIs Wink

You say "hangs at the step adding configuration". That sounds like configuring the Data Guard Broker, which OEM always does - but the Broker didn't exist until release 10.2. What release of OEM are you using? Are you sure that is possible to create a 9i Data Guard environment with OEM?

The version that I am using is 9.2.0.1.0, I wish I had a supported version but unfortunately I don't have that option.

Thanks

Attached is a screen shot of where it hangs.

So if you want to configure the Data Guard Broker, you'll have to do it manually. Everything else seems to have worked. No problem. In my entire career, I have never used OEM to create a standby database.

Those who live by the GUI, die by the GUI.

Long Live the Command Line!

Why not download a more recent version from here? Is it the "vendor does not support other versions" mantra?
