I had to install this program for an online course I just recently completed. When I tried to uninstall (deinstall), it gave me the following error:

"Some of the components you selected cannot be deinstalled because they were installed useing Oracle Universal Installer version 10.1.0.2.0. Please use Oracle Universal Installer version 10.1.0.2.0 or higher to deinstall these products."

Not sure how this managed to happen. I've looked around quite a bit and haven't found anyone else who seems to be having or had the same problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Andrew

Just follow the advice:
Quote:
Please use Oracle Universal Installer version 10.1.0.2.0 or higher to deinstall these products.

Or maybe if you detail what you did we can help you more.

Michel

Attached is the txt version of the 2 word documents I downloaded from my online class with instructions on how to install the software I'm trying to uninstall. I followed the instructions exactly. Is it possible that a windows update might have affected the software installation so that the Oracle Universal Installer would have this problem?

Although I don't agree with everything that's being said in the attached document (by the way, you could have formatted it before posting), did you read the following as well?
Quote:
... you should de-install all existing Oracle products using the instructions in the document, "Deinstalling Oracle Products."

There MAY be more than one Oracle product on your computer, all of them different versions (basically, the catch is to install them into different Oracle homes (directories)). If that's the case on your computer, did you perhaps try to uninstall Oracle 10g using one of earlier Oracle Universal Installers available on this computer?

Hey, figured it out. Turns out I had to use the universal installer for the Oracle Application Suite first. I have a bad memory, so I guess I forgot that it was installed after the database and had to be uninstalled before I could uninstall the database.

Alright--turns out I'm having another problem. It has to do with deinstalling Oracle Provider for OLE DB 10.2.0.1.0. The deinstall gets to 99%, runs through a few things, and then hangs on "Enterprise Manage Agent Core 10.2.0.1.0" indefinitely. I tried deinstalling in safe mode and got the same problem. Any ideas? THanks.

In my opinion, these multiple unsuccessful deinstallations are turning your computer into a mess.

Can you afford formatting the hard disk and starting over?

Well--computer seems to be running just fine. It's just not being able to get those few extra gigs back from oracle that's undesirable at the moment. If worse comes to worse, a reformat might be good for my computer. But it would be quite the time consuming endeavor... It'd be quite convenient if there was some sort of Oracle removal tool -- that worked Very Happy It's also a shame that it doesn't show up in Add/Remove programs.

So if there's no other alternative out there I guess that's what I'll be doing tommorrow morning...reformatting.

Where do I find Doc ID: Note:74955.1? It isn't like any other deinstallation guide for Oracle I've already read right?

After licencing your Oracle product, you'll get the Customer Support Identifier (CSI) number. No licence, no CSI.

So does the licensing take place after installation of the Oracle products I downloaded off the site for the online course I had to take?

I just don't recall anything about Licensing unless it has something to do with a registration process. I have a bad memory.

When you downloaded the product you had to click on "Accept License Agreement" normally after reading the "OTN License Agreement" (see http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/database/index.html).

You should also have a look at OracleŽ Database Licensing Information
